Tottenham 1-0 Partizan: Pitch invasion mars win as Spurs qualify for knockout rounds

After a first half repeatedly disrupted by an apparent marketing stunt, Benjamin Stambouli eventually scored the decisive goal early in the second period at White Hart Lane

Tottenham sealed their place in the knockout rounds of the Europa League by beating Partizan 1-0 in a match that was briefly interrupted by repeated pitch invasions.

From midway through the first half, apparent participants in a marketing stunt disrupted the game, with the third occasion leading to a 10-minute stoppage as the referee withdrew the players from the field.

After the resumption, a goal early in the second half from Benjamin Stambouli proved the difference, the midfielder capitalising on the rebound from one of several missed chances by Roberto Soldado.

Substitute Harry Kane thought that he had made it two in the late stages but his effort was rightly ruled out for offside, while Stambouli should have had a second in a subsequent two-on-one counterattack.
